Mixing up luscious purples in my homemade stay-wet palette, then just spreading and blending it on the canvas.

At the Billabong near where I live, you could almost imagine you were out in the country.
Here I’ve used acrylics in a watercolour style, applying transparent washes and allowing the white of the paper to show through in parts.

Painting the red tunnel in watercolour proved quite a challenge. The intensity of the red needed quite a high concentration of pigment, but this had to be balanced by the right amount of water. Too much and it diluted the red, too little and the paint dried before a smooth effect could be achieved.
